About Satish Mummareddy:
Summary: I’m an experienced product/program manager with a proven track record for designing and delivering user interfaces, distributed computing platforms, and machine learning/computer vision solutions. I recently moved to San Francisco and currently work remotely for VideoMining, where I was an early employee and have successfully delivered in various capacities for the last 8 years.
Accomplishments & Culture: Early in my career as a research engineer, I developed machine learning algorithms for demographic classification from human faces and led a team of engineers to develop state of the art person tracking algorithms that won acclaim at retail tradeshows. As a program/product manager I have worked closely with senior engineers, customers and management to build consensus on product requirements and delivered product features through agile release cycles. I have managed the specification and development of web & desktop user interfaces, distributed video processing platforms and machine learning/computer vision algorithms to successfully deliver retail shopper analytics to our brand & retail customers.
I have worked in a startup environment my entire career and believe in actively iterating and learning from the users. I love talking to customers about their use cases and needs. I believe in designing simple yet elegant interfaces. I want to be the first to test new features. As a successful research leader I have developed an ability to prioritize ideas, run quick tests, build prototypes and work with a dynamic plan.
Formal Education: I earned a MS degree in Electrical Engineering from Penn State University. I also completed all the course requirements for a Computer Science degree to get a better understanding of fundamentals of computer science.
Personal: My parents grudgingly put up with me when I get caught up with work and don’t call them for a few weeks. I do care deeply about them. My wife has doubts whether I love food more than her. But I know deep down that she wins over food every single day – by a small margin. :P
I admire clothes and have amazing stamina when I’m at a mall. I’m ultra competitive when I play sports. I like to delude myself into thinking that I have copied Justine Henin’s amazing single hand backhand. I care deeply about public policy and try to become more knowledgeable about different issues.
Bottom Line: At the end of every day, I need to accomplish something worthwhile to enjoy a decent night’s sleep. :)
